On Kerry in response to email from friend...
It will be close...difficult to tell at this point. One of the analysts at Forbes picked Kerry months ago. The President has raised money, although I'm not sure how much in relation to the others. There's so many months until the election that you can't make predictions right now...If the economy improves and progress continues in Iraq, "W" will win. On the other hand, if we slide into another recession and the situation in Iraq deteriorates or some "scandal" manufactured by the opposition/media gains traction Kerry will win. I'm most intrigued by Kerry's relationship with Bill and Hillary. Is it conceivable that Kerry would choose Hillary as VP? My guess- he picks someone from the South.
I think the stock market is a great barometer of what's happening. Initially, the market seemed to like "W's" re-election chances against Dean, but not now with Kerry surging (and Dean falling to the wayside) the market's indicating that this is going to be a long, grueling slog. The Bush tax cuts on capital gains, etc. under Kerry will be reversed.
One thing Kerry's surge proves is that "people" aren't as dumb as the media thinks. In my opinion, there was absolutely no way Dean was going to win the nomination once the primaries started and voters got to see what this guy was really about. Finally, I just wish Dean hadn't lost his mind so early in the primaries since a long and contracted Democratic primary benefits the Republicans. I hope Dean finished 2nd (just a few points behind Kerry) so this "fight" can continue through March/April/May. We still have a LONG way to go...so don't buy all the media hype about Kerry locking this thing up.

Rarely will you find an article in Times or Newsweek critical of the UN. In addition, the US media would NEVER expose (let alone) investigate the UN.

GREAT QUOTE
"The great end of prudence is to give cheerfulness to those hours which splendour cannot gild, and acclamation cannot exhilarate; those soft hours of unbended amusement, in which a man shrinks to his natural dimensions, and throws aside the ornaments or disguises which he feels in privacy to be useless incumbrances, and to lose all effect when they become familiar. To be happy at home is the ultimate end of all ambition, the end to which every enterprise and labour tends, and of which every desire prompts the prosecution."
--Samuel. Johnson, Rambler #68, November 1750
