Pech & Schwefel 

Having fought his (Patton) way through the outer belt of the Siegfried, he embarked on a punishing drive towards Trier, one of the oldest cities in northern Europe, now flattened by months of Allied bombing when the Americas stormed the town. The only construction still in place was Porta Niegra, a huge stone remnant of a wall built by the Romans.
